Intern Housing - Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to your home away from home! This list of frequently asked questions is just some of the questions we have received. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at eventsandconferences@osu.edu. We would be happy to help you make the best decision for your intern housing and welcome you to Columbus and The Ohio State University!

Is parking included? How do I arrange parking?

Parking is not included as a part of our rates. Ohio State University parking is owned and managed by a private company, independent of the university, called CampusParc. If you move forward with our intern housing, you'll need to set up your own parking by emailing CampusParc and letting them know you'd like to secure parking for your dates. The Lawrence Tower Residence Hall is connected to a parking garage called the West Lane Avenue Garage.

We recommend including the following pieces of information in your email to CampusParc if you are a student (of Ohio State University or any other collegiate institution):

1) Mention that you are a college student. Students, even those who do not attend The Ohio State University, are eligible for student rates, which are cheaper.

2) Mention that you are a student intern, staying in housing sponsored by the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University.

3) Ask for the CP permit, and mention that you will be staying in Lawrence Tower. The CP permit grants access to the attached West Lane Avenue garage.

What are the dates for intern housing in Summer 2024?

Our intern housing season runs from May 12th to August 10th 2024.

What are the locations for intern housing?

For Summer 2024 we have identified a single facility that will be used for intern housing. The facility is called Lawrence Tower, located at 328 West Lane Avenue in Columbus, OH. We've attached the floor plan of the standard room here. While there are two beds, two desks, and two wardrobes, interns are housed in a single occupancy arrangement, meaning you would have the room to yourself.

How much does intern housing cost?

Intern housing costs $266 dollars per week and is billed at a weekly rate. We round to the next highest week. So if you stay for 10.8 weeks, you would be billed for 11 weeks. This rate is not inclusive of parking. Payment for your stay will be due prior to move in unless special accommodations are made with Student Life Events and Conferences.

Who is eligible to participate in The Ohio State University Intern Housing?

Any intern, researcher, or student not enrolled in Summer classes at The Ohio State University is eligible for our intern housing. You do not have to be an Ohio State student. Student Life Events and Conferences reserves the right to request proof of your internship (i.e. an offer letter).

When is my application due for intern housing?

Our intern housing is popular and rooms are reserved on a first-come first-serve basis. Applications are now open. Payment for your stay will be due prior to move in unless special accommodations are made with Student Life Events and Conferences.

I represent an organization or company looking to arrange housing for multiple interns. How do I go about reserving spaces for them?

We would be delighted to set this up for you! Please email eventsandconferences@osu.edu and a team member will work with you to get this arranged.

When is my payment due?

Payment for your stay will be due prior to move in unless special accommodations are made with Student Life Events and Conferences.

What do I need to bring in order to check in for my stay?

A photo ID with your name on it is all that is needed for check in.

What do I need to bring for my stay?

You should bring bedding for an extra long twin bed, any toiletries and bathroom linens, clothes hangers, and any dishes, cookware, glasses, and silverware you'll plan to use in the community kitchen.

Can I request a roommate?

Yes, you can request a roommate. You will share a double room with a private bathroom in Lawrence Tower. We do not offer roommate matching, so you must mutually make the request to live together and must both meet our criteria for intern housing. The costs will be reduced for your stay in a shared room. Each guest will pay $133 dollars per week as their share of the room costs. Plus a $200 per person administrative fee for the summer.

Are there laundry and kitchen facilities?

Yes. Laundry is free of charge in all of our residence halls including Lawrence Tower. There is also a community kitchen in the building as well as microfridges in every room (a miniature refrigerator and a microwave). The community kitchen includes a large refrigerator, oven, stove top, and sink. You'll need to supply your own cookware and utensils.
