Intern Housing - Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to your home away from home! This list of frequently asked questions is just some of the questions we have received. If you have any other questions, please feel free to email us at internhousing@osu.edu. We would be happy to help you make the best decision for your intern housing and welcome you to Columbus and The Ohio State University!

Is parking included? How do I arrange parking?

Parking is not included as a part of our rates. Ohio State University parking is owned and managed by a private company, independent of the university, called CampusParc. If you move forward with our intern housing, you'll need to set up your own parking by emailing CampusParc and letting them know you'd like to secure parking for your dates.

We recommend including the following pieces of information in your email to CampusParc if you are a student (of Ohio State University or any other collegiate institution):

1) Mention that you are a college student. Students, even those who do not attend The Ohio State University, are eligible for student rates, which are cheaper.

2) Mention that you are a student intern, staying in housing sponsored by the Office of Student Life at The Ohio State University.

3) Ask for the permit, and mention that you will be staying in OSU housing.

What are the dates for intern housing in the Summer of 2026?
  • May 17th to August 2nd: Kitchen-equipped rooms, Columbus campus

  • May 17th to August 7th: Standard rooms, Columbus campus

A photo ID with your name on it is all that is needed for check in.

You should bring bedding for an extra-long twin bed, any toiletries and bathroom linens, clothes hangers, and any dishes, cookware, glasses, and silverware you'll plan to use in the community kitchen.

Can I request a roommate?

Yes, you can request a roommate. You will share a double room. We offer a roommate-matching service, so please answer the provided questions truthfully to help us match you with someone compatible. Sharing a room will reduce your overall cost, so please refer to the rates section for more details.

Are there laundry and kitchen facilities?

Yes!

Columbus Campus:

Laundry: Both kitchen-equipped apartments and traditional dorms include access to a laundry room free of charge, located on the first floor or basement of the building. Laundry detergent and other supplies are the responsibility of the guest.

Kitchen: If you signed up to live in a apartment style dorm building, it will be located in your living room and shared with one to four roommates or suitemates, depending on your housing assignment. For those living in a traditional building, the kitchen will be located on the first floor or in the paired building next door. Please note that kitchens are not supplied with cooking items; guests are responsible for bringing their own supplies and cleaning up after use.

ATI Wooster Campus:

Laundry: The community center, included in your housing fee, contains the laundry room for all guests. Use of the machines is free of charge, while detergent and any other supplies are the responsibility of the guest.

Kitchen: All housing on the ATI Wooster campus is apartment-style and will be shared with the other guests in your unit. Depending on your assignment, you will typically have one to four roommates, based on whether you selected a single or double room. Kitchens are included in each apartment; however, supplies are not provided and must be brought by the guest.

Are linens available to rent and use for the summer?

Interns have the option to rent a linen package for $26.00. The package includes two flat sheets, a blanket, a bath towel, a washcloth, and a hand towel. Each time linens are exchanged for fresh sets, there will be an additional charge of $26.00. Guests may also purchase a pillow for $11, which is theirs to keep. Please note that all rented linens must be returned at the end of the stay, and this option is available only on the Columbus campus.

What safety measures are in place for residence halls?

Campus residence halls are locked 24 hours a day. To gain access, students must use their ID card to open an outside door. A guest must be escorted through any residence hall they do not live in by a resident of that hall.

There are several preventative measures that you can take to help ensure that you have a fun and safe time on campus.

  • Lock your door, even if just going down the hall.

  • Escort your guests; that way, only people who belong in the hall (residents and guests) will be there.

  • Do not leave messages on your door about when you will return or where you are.

  • Keep ground-level windows closed.

  • Do not leave tempting valuables visible inside your parked car.

  • Record serial numbers and description of valuable property.

  • Do not put your address on or attach your ID to your key ring.

  • Avoid walking alone at night. Always walk in groups of two or more people.

  • Always lock your car.

  • Use well-lit pathways at night.

  • Use the blue lights around campus when you need help. They provide a direct line to the Ohio State University Police Department.

  • Call 911 if you have a serious emergency.

  • Carry your ID with you at all times. The residence halls are locked 24 hours a day so you'll need it to get in.

Abandoned, lost, or stolen property:

Personal belongings left by conference participants that are removed by housing staff are treated as abandoned property and disposed of accordingly. The University shall not be liable for any damage to, or loss of, such property that may occur during such removal, storage, delivery, or disposal.

If you left something behind, please notify eventsandconferences@osu.edu immediately and provide the following information: first and last name, phone/email, building and room number (if known), conference/camp you were with, and item description. If the item is found, you will be contacted to make arrangements for pick up.

What can the front desk help with?

In addition to providing answers to many campus-related questions, the staff at each of our residential area desks can provide overnight guests with vacuum cleaners, carts,  and cleaning supplies.
