Ohio Union Event Planning Student Assistants (EPAs) will receive hands-on experience with the Event Planning team at the Ohio Union. EPAs will assist with coordination of events from planning to execution; work directly with clients to develop menu and event proposals; answer clients questions; perform in-office meetings with clients; prepare and modify event contracts; assess and respond to client concerns; manage events on-site and troubleshoot details, problems or changes; meet with other department leaders regarding even goals and details; file event information; and attends mandatory department meetings and/or trainings, as directed.

Reservations Student Assistants will receive hands-on experience at the Administrative Desk in the Ohio Union in customer service and the event reservation management process. Greets visitors to the Administrative Suite and conducts intake of event requests through walk-ins, phone calls, emails, and the virtual scheduling system for Events and Conferences clients: student organizations, university departments, and external individuals and organizations. Provides clients and future clients with general information about the Ohio Union, event spaces, catering, and equipment. Intake of financial event payments, distribution of mail and packages for occupants of the Ohio Union, and serves as a contact for Ohio Union Administrative Suite occupants—other duties as assigned.
Student Cook (Catering) (Fall 2026):

Uses commercial kitchen equipment, utensils and skilled culinary techniques in the advanced assembly, cooking and/or preparation of hot and/or cold food items, whether made-to-order or predetermined by menu listing. Works in a fast paced environment where multi-tasking is required. Adheres to all State and Local Health Codes and Food Safety standards. Expected to execute and prepare menu items, according as recipe directs.

Maintains knowledge of menu/offerings, remembers orders, interacts with customers and delivers prepared foods from production area to service area. Event duties may include facility set-up and breakdown. Maintains prescribed standards in personal appearance, hygiene, safety and sanitation. Responsible for loading and unloading, transporting and delivering items with a university vehicle.
Student Steward (Catering) (Fall 2026):

Primarily provides support for unit’s three bay sinks and the operation of commercial dishwashing machines (flight, conveyer, and/or single rack). Responsible for machine maintenance that includes, but is not limited to, cleaning, sanitizing and deliming. Will regularly clean plates, bowls, cups and utensils along with pots, pans, cooking utensils, and other warewashing items as assigned. Also expected to clean and sanitize multiple surfaces and equipment within the dining operations.
