Roger Garland

Roger is the Executive Chef for University Catering on-campus catering and at the Ohio Union. He graduated from the Culinary and Hospitality College in Joliet, Illinois. Roger is married to Michelle, also in culinary arts, and they have two boys.

Roger started his career with Hyatt Hotels after graduating from culinary school. He worked at Hyatts in Chicagoland, San Diego, Aruba, Columbus as well as assisting with openings of several other Hyatts around the country. Roger and his wife Michelle also managed and operated a privately owned restaurant on the Oregon Coast. Roger was the opening Executive Chef and then became Food and Beverage Director of The Blackwell Inn and later joined the Student Life team as the opening Chef of the Ohio Union overseeing multiple food service venues and catering.             

In addition to supporting other Dining Services areas on campus, Roger's main focus is concentrated on University Catering's overall menu development and planning, collaboration and research with our suppliers and local food purchasing, and special events. His skills and expertise are a perfect match for the variety of client and guests experiences requested from the catering department.
